Hugging the Littles Again — A Thanksgiving Trip Worth Every Mile

It’s been far too long since we’ve wrapped our arms around those little ones — Brylee Ann (1), Maddox (5), and Colt (2). Life on the road keeps us moving, but family has a way of pulling you right back home, no matter how many miles stand between you. This Thanksgiving, Kentucky was calling… and we answered.
Of course, no true Grubbs Travel Adventure would be complete without a little chaos sprinkled in. Atlanta traffic decided to remind us who’s boss — let’s just say we came out of it with a story to tell and the need for a new front bumper. Nothing like a little holiday fender-bender to keep things interesting. 😂
But even with the traffic, the delays, and the 14+ hour hauls each way, the moment we walked through that door and saw those bright little faces again… it was all worth it.
Brylee Ann greeting us with that sweet baby curiosity.
Maddox smiling ear to ear, already planning the next wrestling match with Pop Pop.
Colt with that quiet, thoughtful look — clutching a toy and soaking in every moment.
Those hugs hit different. They refill something inside you that you didn’t even realize was running low.
Family time is the real destination — the miles, the dents, the dings… they’re just part of the journey. And this journey brought us back to what matters most.
So here’s to Thanksgiving road trips, to long stretches of highway, to Atlanta traffic (we forgive you… kinda), and to the tiny humans who make every mile meaningful. Until the next adventure, Kentucky — we’ll be counting the days until we can hug those littles again.
Love always
