Chrome, Coleslaw, and a Bulldog Named Winston

Early mornings in Daytona during Bike Week have a different kind of energy.
The sun rises over the Atlantic, lighting up the water like a field of diamonds while waves quietly roll onto the sand. For a few peaceful minutes the beach feels calm before the engines start.
Then somewhere in the distance you hear it.
That unmistakable rumble of motorcycles.
Before long the streets fill with riders, parking lots turn into oceans of chrome, and Daytona Beach becomes the center of the motorcycle world.
This year the Grubbs Travel Adventures crew rolled in — Pop Pop, Grammy, and Winston the bulldog.
And like always…
It didn’t disappoint.

A Place Where Everyone Is Equal
One thing stood out to me this year more than anything else.
Bike Week might be one of the few places left where the outside world just fades away for a while.
Nobody cares about politics.
Nobody asks what you do for a living.
Nobody judges where you came from.
Instead you see people from every walk of life sharing the same streets and the same passion.
Veterans
Builders
Young riders
Retirees
Couples on the road together
For a few days in Daytona, everyone is simply there to ride, laugh, meet people, and enjoy life.
No judgement.
No agendas.
Just good people enjoying the ride.
And honestly… it’s refreshing.
⸻
Riding the Strip on My Indian
One of my favorite moments during the trip was rolling down the strip on my Indian Motorcycle right in the middle of the Bike Week crowd.
Engines rumbling all around.
Custom bikes cruising past with massive wheels and incredible paint.
Crowds lining the sidewalks watching the parade of motorcycles roll through town.
For a moment you realize something pretty cool…
You’re not just watching Bike Week.
You’re part of it.
And I’ll admit…
Riding my Indian through Daytona felt pretty great.
⸻
The Bikes
If you love motorcycles, Bike Week is heaven.
Custom baggers stretched so long they look like they’re gliding across the pavement. Front wheels taller than some riders. Paint jobs so detailed they belong in an art gallery.
One bike that stopped everyone in their tracks was what people were calling the “Gucci Bike.”
Luxury styling.
Designer inspiration.
Wild craftsmanship.
It looked more like a fashion showpiece than a motorcycle — but it worked.
Bike Week has a way of turning motorcycles into rolling artwork.
⸻
Sir Winston the Celebrity
One thing we didn’t expect was Winston becoming a celebrity.
Everywhere we walked people stopped us.
“Can I pet him?”
“That bulldog is awesome!”
“What kind of dog is he?”
Winston soaked up every bit of attention like he had been preparing for Bike Week his whole life.
Between the crowds and the belly rubs, I’m pretty sure he believes Daytona exists solely for his entertainment.
And honestly…
He might not be wrong.
⸻
The Legendary Cabbage Patch
No Bike Week trip would be complete without stopping at the Cabbage Patch Bar.
And yes…
The famous coleslaw wrestling is exactly as ridiculous as it sounds.
A crowd gathers while contestants jump into a pit of coleslaw and wrestle while everyone cheers like it’s the championship round.
It’s messy.
It’s hilarious.
And somehow it has become one of those traditions people talk about every year.
Only at Bike Week.
⸻
Grammy Loved the Adventure
Grammy might not spend her time discussing engine sizes and horsepower numbers like some riders do…
But she absolutely loved the experience.
Maybe not The crowds but definitely..
The music.
The atmosphere.
And especially the people watching.
Trips like this remind you that sometimes the best part of traveling isn’t the destination.
It’s the memories you make along the way.
⸻
A Big Thank You to Hilton Brands and Hampton Inn
When you travel with a dog, finding places that truly welcome them makes a big difference.
The Hampton Inn has always been
great about that.
No matter which location we stay at, they’ve consistently welcomed Winston like he’s part of the family.
That kind of hospitality makes traveling easier and more enjoyable when Winston is along for the ride.
At this point he probably thinks:
Hampton Inn is his personal hotel chain.
⸻
Every Bike Week Should End With a Tattoo
There’s an unofficial rule some riders follow during Bike Week.
Every rally should end with a tattoo.
After a week of motorcycles, crowds, and adventures, it felt like the perfect way to close out the trip.
This time the ink came from The Secret Tattoo in Tampa, and the artist — Playboy — absolutely nailed it.
The piece captures something that really represents what Grubbs Travel Adventures is all about — travel, movement, and chasing the next horizon.
Motorcycles, road trips, flights, beaches… it all ties together.
Sometimes tattoos are just artwork.
Other times they become mile markers in your life story.
And this one will always remind me of Bike Week 2026.

Final Thoughts from Pop Pop
Bike Week is loud.
It’s wild.
And sometimes it’s downright ridiculous.
But that’s part of what makes it unforgettable.
Where else can you spend the day looking at incredible motorcycles, watch people wrestle in coleslaw, meet riders from all over the country, and walk around with a bulldog who suddenly becomes the most popular guy in Daytona?
For us, this trip wasn’t just about motorcycles.
It was about rolling into town on Sparkles, exploring the crowds with Grammy, and watching Winston make friends everywhere we went.
It was about the people we met, the stories shared, and those moments when you realize everyone around you is just there to enjoy the ride.
Bike Week reminds you of something simple.
Life moves fast.
So when you get the chance to ride the coast, chase the horizon, and make memories with the people you love…
You take it.
Because in the end, the best stories don’t come from the places you visit.
They come from the adventures you share along the way.
⸻
Until the next adventure…
Love Always,
Pop Pop and Grammy
